The 'Santa Clarita Diet' actress reconnected with Tom Green - who she split from in December 2001 after just five months of marriage - on her self-titled talk show in September and, since then, they have stayed in touch by getting competitive with one another on the word game.

Speaking on her show, Drew said: "We're playing a mean game of Scrabble. It’s actually my turn but my letters suck so badly.

"Our last game was really good. I didn’t take a screenshot of that board, but it’s so much fun to play 'Scrabble GO' with you."

The 49-year-old comic praised his ex-wife for her "hilarious" talk show and said he's very "proud" of the 45-year-old star.

He said: "You’re hilarious on the show, by the way.

"I’ll see on your Instagram these hilarious things you’re doing. Which to me, I just think it’s what daytime television needs, it needs a little more wackiness.

"I’ve had a lot of laughs watching your clips on social media while I’m out here in the van. So congratulations, I’m proud of you, I’m so happy for you. Thank you."

Touched, Drew replied: "If you think it’s funny, I’m happy because you are a pioneer of funny in a genre that did not exist before you."

The 'Whip It' star - who has daughters Olive, eight, and Frankie, six, with ex-husband Will Kopelman - previously admitted it was "very emotional" to reconcile with Tom on her talk show, after having not spoken for almost 20 years.

She said: "It wasn't for TV and TV sensationalism. It's very emotional and there was a meaning and a depth to it, but a fun celebration.

"We were just kids. We're both more grown up now and there has been a whole life lived. It's wild to reconnect."
