The former couple - who have children Apple, 11, and Moses, 10, together - reportedly splurge on counselling, mediation and alternative therapies to ensure they are both "meeting all their emotional needs and fulfilling their roles as friends and co-parents".

A source said: "Gwyneth likes things done a certain way.

"When she and Chris decided to split they wanted to do things right, and she hasn't cut any corners in making sure the transition has been as smooth as possible.

"In the two years since they've decided to uncouple, they've sought the counsel of a variety of healers and experts, and when conflict has arisen they've worked through them with the help of a qualified mediator, who is paid a retainer."

And the pair have also taken a number of holidays with their kids, which they believe is key to their communicating effectively as they are so relaxed together.

The source added to Britain's Grazia magazine: "Gwyneth is a big believer in having time away to take stock.

"She's made sure to schedule in quality time for her and Chris because she thinks that's the secret of keeping the channels of communication open

"Gwyneth's told friends that being able to anticipate problems before they arise, and working through them in a relaxing and neutral environment, has helped the keep their 'perfect divorce' on track."
