The 36-year-old singer - who has a three-year-old daughter and 21-month-old son with her husband Sam Burrows - has opened up about meeting the legendary former Manchester United footballer at the annual Soccer Aid charity game.

Chatting on her own 'Table Manners' podcast, she said: "I met Eric at Soccer Aid. He is the coolest guy in the world and he said, ‘Do you want to go for a drink?’

"I didn’t want to, I was actually really tired, but I thought, ‘Eric Cantona’s asking me if I wanna have a drink.’

“I didn’t actually realise I was eight weeks pregnant at the time, so I had that bloody glass of wine and talked about when he used to play."

Jessie had a great time with Cantona, and admitted she wished she had been able to speak French to the retired France international.

She added: "He was so kind of philosophical. I wished I could have spoken French then. He was amazing.”

Meanwhile, Jessie - who released albums 'Devotion' and 'Tough Love' in 2012 and 2014 respectively, before following up with 2017's 'Gallhouse' and 'What's Your Pleasure?' earlier this year - recently admitted her heartbreak songs aren't actually autobiographical as she's been happily married for six years.

She explained: "Romantically I've been with the same bloke since I was 18 so there's never been much drama going on there.

"But I think being a songwriter I have experimented and explored and not necessarily felt like everything has to be fully autobiographical and I think that really has emancipated me in my writing process and take to it in a different way."

Meanwhile, the 'Say You Love Me' hitmaker also noted that "being a mother" hasn't altered her process as a musician.

She added: "I don’t think being a mother really changed the way I made music; it changed my time in the studio so I don’t piss about for hours on end because I’ve got other things to do. Being a mother didn’t really come into this record and that’s OK because I’m many things apart from a mother. "
