The 41-year-old rapper - who has been a vocal supporter of the US leader - is to meet with senior adviser Jared Kushner and then with the commander-in-chief to discuss a variety of issues, the White House have advised.

Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said: "Kanye West is coming to the White House to have lunch with President Trump and he will also meet with Jared Kushner.

"Topics of discussions will include manufacturing resurgence in America, prison reform, how to prevent gang violence, and what can be done to reduce violence in Chicago."

According to the New York Times newspaper, the 'All Day' rapper is reportedly keen to discuss furthering job opportunities for former convicts, and how to increase the number of manufacturing jobs in his native Chicago.

Kanye's wife Kim Kardashian West - the mother of his children North, five, Saint, two, and nine-month-old Chicago - met with the president in May to appeal for clemency for inmate Alice Marie Johnson.

And Trump - who ultimately granted clemency to Johnson, who had been serving life without parole for a first-time drug offence - believes Kim did a "great thing".

He said: "She did a great thing. She did a great thing.

"The person was in jail on a very strange thing. She was there for 22 years and it was based largely on a phone call that they were listening to and she had another 24 years."

The US leader has also spoken in praise of the famous couple.

He said in a fundraising dinner in August: "Now we're doing great and Kanye West liked me and that really lifted my ... Kanye West has some real power!

"He's got a good wife too, in Kim, I'll tell ya. She really is [great]."
