Strictly Come Dancing's Karen Clifton is hoping to bag a partner that's "fun and wants a good time" this year after Will Young dramatically quit just weeks in 2016's series.

The professional dancer was left heartbroken last year when the 38-year-old singer walked away from the show at the very beginning following a feud with head judge Len Goodman - meaning she too couldn't take part in the series - but she hopes bosses will pair her up with someone who won't give up when it becomes too much this time.

Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, she said: "[Last year] was a difficult time. This series I'm just hoping for a partner that's fun and wants a good time and who will enjoy the journey - and be there. Whenever you're on the show you're hoping you'll get someone who wants to be there. 'Strictly Come Dancing' is so loved and you want someone who is keen to learn and is ready for a new adventure."

The 35-year-old performer's little dig will no doubt upset the 'Leave Right Now' hitmaker as he had nothing but praise and admiration for Karen when he left last year.

He said at the time: "I have found a creative partnership with Karen that has been the most wonderful thing to experience.

"I will be eternally grateful to her for her direction, talent and guiding me through three wonderful dances that I will be able to show my grandkids in years to come."

Will previously admitted he had to leave the ballroom and latin show for his "health."

He explained: "It was important for me to leave 'Strictly' for my own wellbeing. It was a number of things. It was nothing to do with the people on the show, and it certainly wasn't because Len Goodman dissed my salsa - I mean, come on! I love dance, and because of the stuff that was going on personally, I just wasn't enjoying the dancing."
