The 42-year-old television personality was married to the ‘Mysterious Girl’ hitmaker – with whom she has son Junior, 15, and daughter Princess, 13 – from 2005 until 2009, and despite their split happening over a decade ago, Katie has said she’s still confused about why they called time on their romance.

During an appearance on the ‘That’s After Life’ podcast with Dame Esther Rantzen and Adrian Mills, Esther asked Katie: "You were making a reality show with Peter Andre and I think you and Pete actually split. Right, you want to know why I think that was?"

And Katie responded: "Yeah, I'd love to know - I wanna know. I never did anything wrong."

Esther went on to explain that she believes the former couple’s reality show, ‘Katie & Peter’, was “quite damaging” for the pair.

Speaking about the series – which ran from 2004 before the pair married, until 2009 when they separated – Esther added: "That reality show was quite damaging.

"It got into your relationship and it made you look so dominant and it made him look so gentle.

"And you know how it is with television - the viewers always like the underdog - and it began to look as if Pete was in love with you and trying to do what you wanted and nothing was quite right for you."

Katie – who went on to marry Alex Reid between 2010 and 2012, and Kieran Hayler from 2013 until their divorce earlier this year, and is currently dating Carl Woods – agreed with Esther’s comments, and said the split set her on a “horrific journey” with her mental health.

She explained: "I totally agree, especially towards the end.

"But the way I look at is, it happened, you can't change the past. But it's been a horrific journey since then.

"I'm still here, I didn't actually push the button to commit suicide, that's why I went to get help and I will never, ever let anyone or anything around me ever get me in that state again."
