The 59-year-old actress recently revealed she pulled out of her appearance in West End production 'Linda' last year because of the debilitating effects of insomnia and has now admitted she was left thinking about her life situation in the middle of the night.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph newspaper, Kim said: "The questions I was having in the small hours were: do I deserve what I have? Why don't I deserve other things? Why am I alone? Will I be alone?"

Kim also admitted being an "overachiever" has helped her be a "strong" person because so many people expect her to be "OK" and she has naturally adapted to that.

She added: "When you are an overachiever, and you've always been OK, people assume you will always be OK. They think you're tough, you're strong, and that you can take care of yourself. And so you start to believe that about yourself, too."

The 'Police Academy' actress - who has been married three times to Larry Davies, Andre J. Lyson, and Mark Levinson - also revealed that whilst she used to think it was better for her to put walls up to protect herself, she is now discovering the strength in opening up.

She said: "Women of my generation were told to armour up in a man's world. I'm realising, at this age, that there's more strength in revealing yourself, in allowing yourself to be vulnerable, than there is in force and manning up."

The 'Sex and the City' actress has previously admitted it is "difficult" to be single at her age.

She previously said: "It's hard for everybody. To be single at this age is really difficult, because you know so much more about what you want and what you don't want and what you'll put up with and you've been there and done that so many times at this point. I have anyway. I feel in that area, romantically, retired."
