The ‘Frozen II’ star hadn’t seen her mother or father in over a year because they were self-isolating during the global health crisis, but vaccination rollouts mean lockdown restrictions have been lifted, and families are able to meet once again.

And on Saturday (29.05.21), Kristen met up with her parents to celebrate her father Tom’s birthday.

She wrote on Instagram alongside a picture of herself with her parents: “Saw my parents for the first time in over a year.

“It was my dad's birthday, so we took him out to a nice dinner and he told me that since it was his birthday he absolutely did not have to take his mask off for the pictures I wanted.

“I get my stubbornness from him.

“Happy birthday, dad. I'm so glad you're mine. (sic)”

Kristen’s family day out comes after she and her husband, Dax Shepard, have used their platforms to advocate for social distancing amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 40-year-old actress – who has Lincoln, eight, and Delta, six, with Dax – also recently praised her mother, Lorelei, for her work as a nurse which she says gave her a perspective on the pandemic.

She said: "I learned how empowering it is to care for someone else and the importance of recognising when you have to put others before yourself.

"My mother would come home with stories and I was able to glean that helping a person affects so much more than that one person. It affects their families, their friends, their colleagues [and more]. If you help one person, you are actually helping 100 other people. We are like stones thrown in a pond - there is a massive ripple effect."
