It was previously revealed that the Motörhead frontman battled with an "aggressive" cancer but the death certificate, obtained by TMZ, has confirmed that the musician suffered from cancer of the prostate and congestive heart failure.

Meanwhile, it was a post on the band's official website that confirmed the tragic passing of the 'Ace of Spades' hitmaker, who was only 70-years-old.

A statement at the time read: "There is no easy way to say this...our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made it's way down the street, with his family.

"We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren't words. We will say more in the coming days, but for now, please...play Motörhead loud, play Hawkwind loud, play Lemmy's music LOUD. (sic)"

Lemmy was laid to rest in Los Angeles on January 9 where the likes of Slash and Dave Grohl paid tribute to the late star.

Speaking at the funeral, the Guns N' Roses' frontman said: "Lemmy was somebody I just feel so honoured to have been friends with. He lived his life the way he wanted to ... his music and personality will last forever."
