The 'This Is Us' actress - who plays the mother to biological twins and their adopted brother in the hit US drama series - has always dreamed about taking on the care of a disadvantaged child and starting a family is in her sights once she and her fiance Taylor Goldsmith have tied the knot.

She said: "Adoption is something I've always thought I wanted.

"It's definitely become more prominent in my mind because I'm part of the show and find myself at a similar crossroads in my life.

"I'm going to be married soon and Taylor and I both want our own children and to adopt. I hope that's on the cards."

'This Is Us' spans several decades and Mandy, 34, admits being aged up for some scenes has given her "hope" for what she'll look like in the future.

She said: "It gave me hope. How does she look like that at 67?

"She's clearly getting plenty of sleep and wearing sunscreen, so I'm going to follow whatever beauty regime she follows."

The former teen pop star's on-screen husband in the show is played by 'Gilmore Girls' actor Milo Ventimiglia and the pair find it funny that they have ended up playing parents years after getting their respective big breaks.

She told Britain's Marie Claire magazine: "It makes us laugh. If someone had said, 'You're going to play the quintessential mum on TV', I'd be like, 'What?!' "

Mandy loves being a part of the show and doesn't even get bothered by having to spend almost four hours in the make-up chair every day.

She said: "It's the best challenge of my career.

"Most actors salivate over an opportunity like this.

"I don't even mind the prosthetic hair and make-up, which takes three to four hours every morning."
