It’s hard to believe it’s already been four months since Jesy Nelson announced she would be leaving Little Mix for good, following a short hiatus from the group.

Now, the singer has opened up in a new interview with Cosmopolitan about exactly why she decided she had to wave goodbye to the other ladies, zeroing in on one moment in particular that she deemed her “breaking point”.

She explained: "The last music video we did was the breaking point. We'd been in lockdown, and it was the first time I could have a break and be at home around people that I love. It was the happiest I'd ever felt and I didn't realise that until I went back to work. I immediately became a different person.”

Nelson went on to add that she had a “panic attack” whilst filming the video, after two weeks of trying to lose weight for the shoot because of her putting on some weight whilst in lockdown.

“I went on this extreme diet, with bloody shakes, and tried to eat as little as possible,” she said. “I found it so hard to just be happy and enjoy myself. I looked at the other three and they were having the time of their life.”

After being told by somebody “really close” that she had to make the best decision for her mental and physical health, as well as a conversation with her mother, Nelson realised that moving on from Little Mix would be best for everybody concerned.

Though fans were of course upset to see her go back in December, the majority have been supportive of her decision.

Her former group members have also thrown their support behind the star.

Meanwhile, social media users also got #IDM2021 trending to mark International Day of the Midwife.

These past 12 months have more than most shown us just how dedicated midwives are to the job, putting themselves in harms way in the middle of a pandemic so that they can help welcome new lives into the world.

Now, if only the British government could loosen up their purse strings for things other than flat renovations, the midwives and the rest of the National Health Service in the UK may just get the raise they so deserve.
