Miley Cyrus insists she'd be "dumb" to quit the US because of Donald Trump's presidency.

The 'Wrecking Ball' hitmaker declared during the run-up to the 2016 election she'd move away from her home country if the former 'Apprentice' star took office, but she's now admitted she'd never "abandon" America while she still has a platform to speak out.

Asked whether she regrets her remarks, she told the new issue of NME magazine: "I didn't leave the country. I'm not f**king leaving the country, that's some ignorant s**t, that's dumb.

"Because that's me abandoning my country when I think I've got a good thing to say to my country."

The 24-year-old singer admitted she receives a daily backlash about her remarks.

She added: "And trust me, I hear every day on my Instagram, 'Just leave already! When are you going to leave?' Well, that's not going to be any good. "

But Miley insists it doesn't matter whether she's in America or away, as she can always speak up and make sure she's heard.

She said: "Does it really matter where I am? Because wherever I am, my f***ing voice is gonna be heard, and I'll make sure of it."

After Trump's election last November, Miley broke down in an emotional video in which she promised to "accept" him as president, even though she didn't agree with the result.

She said: "Happy Hippies - we adjust and we accept everyone for who they are.

"And so Donald Trump I accept you. And this hurts to say, but I even accept you as a president of the United States, and that's fine."

She also stressed how much she felt Hillary Clinton deserved the presidency.

She tearfully added: "And that's what makes me so sad ... that I just wish that she had that opportunity because she's fought for so long.

"And because I believe her when she says she loves this country, this is all she's ever done, she's given her life to make it better.

"But like Donald Trump so ironically played after his speech, 'You Can't Always Get What You Want'."
