The supermodel celebrated turning 45 with a star-studded bash at 15-bedroom castle Chateau Saint Jeannet, located just outside of Nice in the South of France, with guests including Leonardo DiCaprio, model Gigi Hadid, Mary J. Blige - who performed - and Kendall Jenner.

It has now been revealed that Naomi charged some non-celebrity revellers up to $1,800 to enter the event.

An insider told the New York Daily News newspaper's Confidenti@l column: "People paid to get on the guest list ... Naomi wanted to capitalise on the prestigious group of people that were at the (Cannes) film festival and amfAR."

Although they were several stars in attendance many VIPs who paid to join the party were allegedly underwhelmed by the celebrity turnout and the fact Naomi didn't arrive until after midnight, despite proceedings kicking off at 9pm.

The source added: "A lot of the billionaires were a bit upset because she didn't show up until midnight. Everyone else started arriving at 9pm."

A representative for the supermodel has confirmed to the publication that Naomi did charge some guests, but has revealed these fees were donations made to her charity Fashion for Relief.

The spokesperson said: "Some guests were invited to make a donation to support her charity, Fashion for Relief, in conjunction with their attendance at the event."

At the birthday bash Naomi was presented with a raspberry and blackberry cake and took to her Instagram account afterwards to thank all her friends who made the night a wonderful occasion.

Along with a picture of her wearing a silver Versace gown in front of a wall of magazine covers of herself, Naomi wrote: "#BestBirthday in the world. Thank you all who made it happen . #Greatfull #Blest (sic)"
