Dr Anthony Kidman died suddenly in 2014 and Nicole's musician husband walked out of a concert he was due to perform at in order to comfort her.

She told 'CBS Sunday Morning': "I knew at some point that was going to come. But boy, when it comes, it lays you out. It laid me out. I was like, 'I don't even know how to get up from this.'"

Nicole revealed she called Keith "screaming and crying" when she first heard about her father's death,

"He was about to go onstage, and he walked offstage and he got on a plane. He had just gotten there. He flew six hours, and he was right back there," she recalled. "And he literally picked me up and carried - pretty much carried me through the next two weeks. And that, to me, that's a marriage, and that's love. And I'm so grateful to have that. And I also had, you know, my children going, 'It's going to be all right, Momma.'"

Speaking last year, Nicole admitted there were still days when she wished she could hide away and never come out following the death of the esteemed psychologist and biochemist.

Asked about their close relationship, the 'Paddington' star said: "You've caught me at a time when I'm still recovering and in grief. There are times you go, 'Gosh, I wish I could just go and hide in a hole and never come out.' And then you go, 'That was yesterday.'"
