The 34-year-old professional wrestler broke off her engagement to the 'Blockers' star in April just weeks before the pair were due to walk down the aisle, and she has now admitted John's busy schedule meant that she had the difficult task of planning their big day without his input.

Speaking in Sunday's (08.07.18) episode of 'Total Bellas' - which was filmed before their engagement ended - Nikki said: "It's so tough making these decisions on my own because I just think about like, 'What will John like?' and I don't want him to be disappointed and I want him to love this wedding just as much as I'm going to. I kinda get nervous making these decisions 'cause it's like, we called the wedding off and since we want to keep our same date, we lost a lot of time."

Whilst 41-year-old John was away, it fell to Nikki's twin sister Brie to "be the damn husband" when it came to wedding planning, as she was doing everything she could to keep her sister "happy".

She added in the episode: "I don't want my sister to do things she doesn't want to do. She's the bride and the one thing you have to make sure, is that the bride is always happy. And right now, she has so much on her plate. She has to do everything, so I need to step up and start helping her out. I gotta be the damn husband right now."

Nikki and John split after John refused to change his mind about starting a family, and shocked the brunette beauty following their break-up when he stated he would love nothing more than to be the father of her children.

Previously, Nikki admitted she and John are "just friends" right now, and are working on themselves before they talk about rekindling their romance.

She said: "Right now, we're just friends. We're working on each other and trying to work on us, and we talk every day. He is not only my best friend, but he truly is one of the best people I have ever met, and he has patience with me and he has really taught me a lot over the last few months, and I think one of those things is an inner strength that I thought I had, but didn't realise how strong I had it.

"It's giving us this time in life to see what we really want for the future. I know for some people, because of the media or what they read on social media, they look at this as a very negative thing, but ... I don't want to be someone who gets a divorce, or who has kids and gets a divorce. I truly want to walk down that aisle, I want to give my vows and I want this to be one time.

"I'm beyond grateful that I have this amazing man, who is staying by my side and helping me fight through those issues and helping me become just an even better person, and even stronger."
