Forget about Will Smith and Chris Rock, theirs wasn’t the only uncomfortable exchange at this year’s Academy Awards. Lady Gaga and Caitlyn Jenner shared some frosty small talk outside the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s 30th Oscars Viewing Party, and now everyone wants Gaga’s response on a T-shirt.

The Rain On Me singer bundled up her pale yellow tulle Rodarté dress as she paused to talk to reality star Caitlyn Jenner ahead of the celebrity viewing party, and it seemed Gaga went from polite to rather irritated in a matter of seconds.
“Are you still spending time in Malibu?” Caitlyn asked. “Yes!” Gaga replied, looking a little tense.
“I haven’t seen you in the Starbucks in a while,” Caitlyn added. At this point, Gaga stepped back, shrugged, and pointedly turned away from the conversation she clearly didn’t want to be having.
“I… I… I’ve switched baristas,” she said, slowly walking away.
It’s hard to know why the exchange was so uncomfortable; as far as we know there’s no public beef between the two, but it sounds like Gaga has been flagged down multiple times in the past by Caitlyn while she’s just trying to grab a coffee, and she decided to “switch baristas” to get away from annoying small talk.

There are certainly reasons why Gaga may not particularly like Caitlyn; after all, the latter is a Republican Party member and has made comments in the past that don’t sit well with other members of the LGBTQ+ community, such as her opposition to trans women in women’s sports.
Gaga, meanwhile, is a staunch Democrat who has devoted much of her life to LGBTQ+ charities, and has much more liberal views on trans rights. It’s understandable why she may want to keep her distance from someone whose views aren’t something she agrees with.

Whatever the reason for this super awkward conversation, fans are loving the drama and “I’ve switched baristas” has become the internet’s new favourite meme.
