Robbie Williams has splashed out £9 million on a holiday home in the Caribbean.

The 39-year-old singer who received £2.1 million from selling a five-bedroom mansion in Los Angeles, decided to buy the property in Mustique - which is part of a group of islands called the Grenadines - after falling in love with the place when he and his wife Ayda Field visited in May.

Although it is a large sum of money, Robbie - who has a nine-month-old daughter Theodora 'Teddy' Rose with actress Ayda - felt he could afford it after the success of his 'Take the Crown' tour of Europe.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Robbie's been looking for a home in the Caribbean for some time. He thought about the Bahamas but fell in love with Mustique, and decided to take the plunge last time he and Ayda visited in May. He's had a great year with a sold-out tour which helped sway their decision. Him and Ayda love the privacy of the place."

The private island is a hotspot for celebrities; Rolling Stones singer Sir Mick Jagger has a property there, while regular visitors include fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger and Prince William and Duchess Catherine too.

The source added: "Seeing as there's only a handful of restaurants, he's bound to bump into famous neighbours. They plan to spend a lot of time there. It's the perfect place to unwind."
