The 'Love My Life' hitmaker had to postpone some dates of his 'The Heavy Entertainment Show Tour' earlier this year after falling ill but his wife Ayda Field has now revealed Robbie is on the road to recovery.

She said: "We're in a good place now. Robbie was very ill but now he's on the tail end of that, doing very well. He has embraced a plant-based lifestyle and he's doing yoga and pilates. He's like the girl that I would like to be."

Ayda also revealed how the couple had a last meal at Shake Shack before going on the new diet.

Speaking on ITV's Loose Women, she added: "We watched 'What The Health', which is a plant-based documentary that encourages you to eat plant-based so what we did was we went to Shake Shack and had one last meal.

"I do it [the plant-based diet] on the weekdays, when someone is watching ... When Robbie was explaining it, he said he was vegan and I was like, 'Babe you're wearing a leather jacket, you're not vegan.'"

It comes after Robbie revealed he was rushed to intensive care when he fell ill back in September.

Addressing his health scare in a video posted to his YouTube account, he said: "So, how am I is really good. I've been recovering from an illness now for the last five weeks. Unfortunately, that illness kicked in just at the end of my tour, a tour which was going so well. The audiences were incredible, I was okay, the band were amazing. I was a soldier and I needed to finish that tour and I needed to go to Moscow and I needed to go to St. Petersburg.

"Then I got some test results. They were very worrying and I ended up in ICU (Intensive Care Unit), so I couldn't go. I haven't pulled out of a tour for bad health since 1998 so you know that if I can't do it then there's something going on that I just can't do it. Russia, I love you, I can't wait to come and party with you ... I got all of your good thoughts and prayers and well wishes and they all meant a lot to me. Especially five weeks ago."
