The 50-year-old actress - who adopted Louis, 5, in 2010 shortly after she split from her ex-husband Jesse James - has confessed "nothing makes [her] happier" than seeing the youngster crack up over her antics on the big screen.

Sandra - who voices Scarlett Overkill in the new 'Despicable Me' spin-off 'Minions' - added she hopes her son finds her latest offering entertaining and doesn't mind that he has no idea she is in the movie

She told the Belfast Telegraph newspaper at the film's London premiere on Thursday (11.06.15): "I wanted to make something my son could see and watch and enjoy, even though he doesn't know what I do and he doesn't know it's me - I can sit in the theatre and watch him.

"Nothing makes me happier than hearing that boy laugh, [by] physical humuor and animation so hopefully I'll be able to do that."

She added to Entertainment Tonight: "He doesn't know what I do, I just go to work.

"Louis has no idea what an Oscar is, he's not seen it, doesn't know what it is, and Louis has no idea that I'm in this film."

Meanwhile, the 'Gravity' star recently confessed to breaking down in tears when Louis performed a song to her to celebrate US Mother's Day on May 10.

She said: " [I] cried a lot. It was all happy tears. It was happy tears. It was so much. I just cry at anything now.

"He said, 'I wrote you a song,' and I didn't have the heart to tell him he plagiarised. [He sang,] 'There was a mom l love so much and Sandy was her name-o...' And then he played the harmonica in between and then he just kept looking at me. I just [cried]. It's too much. He's all boy with a really tender heart."
