The 46-year-old actress - who has been brave and honest on social media throughout her battle with the disease - explained she has been for more tests, and will be under further scrutiny after receiving the results.

She wrote on Instagram: "Test and results. One Tumor marker test came back good. Other ... elevated. Just means I get monitored and another test.

"But even after that call, I'm staying positive and taking stock of my life. It certainly helps put things in perspective and reminds you of what you learned thru the cancer journey. And I sometimes, need a refresher. (sic)"

The 'Charmed' star - who has been working on an upcoming TV reboot of 1988 comedy 'Heathers' - reflected on how much battling cancer has changed her life, before ending the note with a positive hashtag.

She continued: "As I've said before, cancer changes your life in ways no one could ever imagine.....btw, the elevation can be from all sorts of things. Oh and vitamin D... need more of that too. #stillacancerslayer (sic)"

Shannen - who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 - announced in April last year that the disease was finally in remission after having undergone eight rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatments, as well as a single mastectomy.

But despite having been given the all clear, Shannen admits that since her diagnoses, every small amount of pain her body feels makes her worry, and admits she has to keep pushing forward or else she risks letting the fear of the disease "overtake" her.

She said: "You find yourself going, 'Oh, I have that pain too. Does that mean I'm getting bone cancer?' There's not a day that goes by that I don't wake up going, 'Oh, is this normal?' And then I sort of slap myself and go, 'OK, you're being silly.' The thing about cancer is that you have to just keep plowing through because it can really sort of overtake you."
