The 'Castle on the Hill' hitmaker was just 15 years old when he appeared in a production of hit musical 'Grease' as Roger AKA 'Rump' but auctioneers believe the film, which runs for almost two hours, shows he had "star potential" back then.

Paul Fairweather of Omega Auctions, who will sell off the DVD on 29, said: "Over the last year or so we've seen an exponential increase in interest for memorabilia and collectables relating to contemporary artists, especially Ed Sheeran.

"We sold a rare early CD title for £50,000 in September of last year and since then the enquiries and consignments have been non-stop.

"The footage is a great watch and we think it definitely gives a hint as to Ed's star potential."

The firm have shared footage of the DVD on YouTube, with Ed appearing in a leather jacket with slicked back hair as he sang 'Mooning', in which he played guitar to accompany his solo performance of the lesser-known song, in which his character explained his nickname and favourite hobby of the same name.

In another clip, Ed joins a castmate on a duet of 'Those Magic Changes'.

Earlier this year, the 30-year-old singer raised £51,000 for his local cancer charity after raffling off an abstract painting he'd done titled 'Splash Planet'.

Tickets cost just £20 and the lucky winner was a fan from the US east coast.

Meanwhile, Ed recently admitted his baby daughter Lyra, who was born last August, isn't a fan of his music and the tot - who he has with wife Cherry Seaborn - "cries" when he sings.

He said: "Now I’ll sing [my new songs] to my daughter who’s not my biggest fan. She just cries.”

Lyra does have a few favourites among her dad’s catalogue of songs, but most of his music isn’t to her taste.

Ed added: “No, I’ve got some she likes. She really likes ‘Shape of You’, the marimba sound is good but she doesn’t like anything loud or anything belty.”
