The 80-year-old pop star lost his wife Linda to cancer in 2016, and Tom insists she's the one true love of his life.

He explained on 'The Joe Wicks Podcast': "I’m on my own now, more or less. No, I’ll never love again, there was one love of my life, that was Linda.

"I have friends and stuff. I’m glad we had our lives together but I wish she was here now, we would be old together.

"When you get older you’re not clubbing like you used to be. I’m a lot calmer now, it’s a part of my life now that I’m enjoying, knowing I’ve done a lot of stuff in the past, like drinking, a lot of shows, a lot of high-energy stuff, now I can calm down now I’m older and take my time with stuff.

"I can’t wait to get back on the road but not two shows a night any more."

Earlier this year, Tom admitted he never realised the extent of his late wife's homesickness.

The chart-topping star and Linda relocated to the US at the height of his career, and Tom only became aware of how much Linda wanted to return to Britain after she passed away.

Tom - who moved to a flat in London after Linda's death - shared: "She wrote it all down. I’ve got those notes, and I didn’t realise it was that important to her.

"She wrote: ‘When Tom moved his mother and father and sister out, I thought, ‘Oh my god, that means we’re not going to go back for a while…’

"She was always on about coming home, and we were going to do it - we started looking at places over here. Then of course she got sick. So I’ve done it, I’ve moved and I’ve got her ashes with me."
