Taylor Swift says finding a boyfriend "isn't really possible" at the moment.

Taylor Swift feels finding a boyfriend "isn't really possible" at the moment, saying she's much rather be surrounded by her "incredible" friends.

Taylor Swift  has surrounded herself by a number of high-profile girlfriends - including Lorde, Lena Dunham and Selena Gomez - and insisted she would much rather focus on female friendship than romance.

She told The Guardian newspaper: "Without a doubt. Because the other alternative isn't really possible right now.

"It just doesn't seem like a possibility in the near future. It doesn't ever work. What works is having incredible girlfriends who I can trust and tell everything."

The star has recently announced her new single '1989', which - rather than being about the sad side of love - is about the independence that comes from being single a single woman, living "on your own terms" and proving you can "do it" on your own without the need for a man or relationship.

She added: "It's the phase after that [jilted, sad, pining], when you go out into the world and make changes in your life on your own terms, make friends on your own terms, without [literally] saying 'C'mon girls, we can do it on our own.' "
