The Blink-182 drummer and his 14-year-old boy Landon Asher were involved in a collision with the vehicle on Friday (13.07.18), and he has suggested the pair of them are lucky to have escaped unhurt.

He wrote on Instagram: "Life's crazy...My dad, @carl.daw and I could have died today, our car was struck by school bus.. are car was Totaled thank god everyday because You never know if you'll live to see tomorrow. (sic)"

Travis, 42, suggested he was lucky to have come away from the incident unharmed, and said his own car - which was "totalled" may have had something to do with it.

He told E! News: "I was in a really bad car accident but I came out unscathed, which is pretty awesome. My car is totaled but I pretty much walked away OK, which is awesome.

"A school bus ran a red light. It was insane. I have a really big 4x4 G-Wagon and if I wasn't in that, it might have been different but it held up pretty well."

Travis - who also has 12-year-old daughter Alabama Luella - was said to have been left feeling dazed following the collision, which occurred in Calabasas when he was making a left turn.

There were no children on the bus when the incident took place, however, the accident created a mess on the streets and emergency vehicles had to be called to block off the area.

It has been a tough few weeks for Travis as his band was forced to postpone dates on their Las Vegas residency last month when his doctor warned him not to perform after he suffered from blood clots in his arms, followed by a staph infection.

Travis said: "I'm as good as I can be. I'm just following the doctor's orders. I actually had [a] staph infection and a ton of blood clots, and I've just been in a recovery period. So I'm just waiting for everything. I see doctors weekly."

And he hopes to be back at work within the next three weeks.

He said: "They're doing a lot for things to hyper heal my hand so as soon as that happens, it's a green light."
