Jodi Lyn O'Keefe began her acting career at the age of seventeen she left school to star on the soap opera Another World.Since then the twenty nine year old actress has worked between television and film appearing in Nash Bridges, Halloween H20: 20 Years Later and She's All That.But more recently she made an explosive entrance in the third series of hit US drama Prison Break as Gretchen "Susan B. Anthony" Morgan an operative for the company.I caught up with Jodi to discuss her role in Prison Break and what the future lies in store for her character and for her an actress.
You play Susan B. Anthony in Prison Break can you tell me a bit about your character?
Susan B works for the company. She’s basically their go-to gal when the situation gets out of control. She has loose morals and she could eat a ham sandwich or chop your head off. It doesn’t make too much of a difference to her.
She is the resident bad guy what can we expect from her in season three?
Hopefully she’ll take off a few more heads before her time is done.
She was in the military and a prisoner of war how do you prepare for this role?
Well I think that there’s a little bit of bad in all of us. I’ve heard people say 'I want to kill her' or 'I want to kill him.' The thing is we don’t follow through with it. You bring it out of any torment you’ve had in your own life and you make it your real life. Also it’s just fun.
This is a very male dominated series how is it being one of very few women characters?
It is glorious. I am surrounded by gentlemen all day long. I’m first in the lunch line and everyone asks me how I’m feeling about a thousand times a day.
What did you think of the character when you read the script?
I was really excited and really looking forward to my audition.
How often do you come across such strong female characters?
Not very often.
How difficult was it coming into such a well established drama?
It’s always hard to be the new guy but everybody was so welcoming that it became second nature.
How are the rest of the cast Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell to work with?
Wonderful. Everyone is on time and very present and very happy to be there.
What can we expect from the character in the future?
She’s going to have a torn love affair with Michael Scofield.
Many will know you from movies like Halloween H20: 20 Years Later how does working in TV and film differ?
Films are done in about three months and television takes up about ten months out of the year working on the same project.
