Sienna Miller

"I try no6t to care what peple think but it's hard"She's more famous for her men than her movies... but here Sienna Miller talks to Cosmo about fame, friendship and the downsides of bagging an A-list man.

You became famous for being Jude Law's girlfriend. Has helped or hindered your career?
"It's made it a slower process. It will take a long time for me to break down those preconceptions and be taken seriously as an actress because i was tabloid fodder before. It's defitely a hinderance being in the papers. The mpore peopl know about your private life, the harder it is for them to see you as a character in a film."
Is that the biggest misconception about you; that your life is one big party?
"Yeah, the media likes to crerate a tabloid image to sell to it's papers, but it's different to the person. If you blink, they'll say you're drunk because your eyes are half closed. This week, for example, i've had an abscess on my tooth and haven,t been looking my best. And they took a photo of me and said, 'Oh, she's been out drinking'. I'm like, 'No, i'm actually in agony with toothache and working 15-hour days- thats why i look tired'."
You've said before now that you'd rather quit acting that put up with the paparazzi. Is that still the case?
"I think i was angry the day i said that. I do find it a lot to deal with. I'll often find myself running down a street to get to my house, with 10 men chasing me-and because they've got cameras, it's legal. But if you take away the cameras, what have you got? I'm terrified and trying to get home with 10 men i don't know running after me. That's not normal! I need to get a big dog."
What attracts you to a man?
"A sense of humour. If someone makes me laugh, I want to be around them. Sorry, that's quite cliched answer, isn't it?"
Yep! You're very beautiful-ever used your looks to futher your career?
"No, not at all. ok, so Layer Cake was a very gratuitous role, but that was my first big film. My character is a gangster's moll, and there wasn't much acting involved, but i was young and got offered a film. I didn't get my knockers out, though."
Would you ever go under the knife?
"No. The actors i admire have grown older gracefully. I mean, i say this and i'll probaly be like that [stretches her face]in 10 years, but as an actor you need to use your face to express emotions-it seems crazy to freeze muscles. Although I'll probaly be an old hag!"

You've just finished filming The Edge Of Love with Keira Knightly. Are you two joined at the hip now?
"Oh, Ilove her. It was great to work with her because i never get to work with girls-it's always boys. But this film is about female friendship, sisterhood, loyalty and the love between women-and Keira was brilliant."

Has she given you advice on fame?
"Yeah, and that's great. The thing is, i've still got the same group of friends i've had since i was 10 and when i complain about my job, they're like, 'Shut up, it's not that bad; But with Keira i feel as if i have someone to talk to about work, who goes through the same things and understands and is objective."

You seem pretty easy-going. Does anything scare you?
"Yeah of course-I'm 26 and i'm still figuring everything out! I get scared of judgement, the paparazzi and being misunderstood. It's hard but you can't worry about what people think of you. I'm happy in my core, and i'm lucky in that respect."

What keeps you grounded?
"The fact i like to be able to do my job and live the life of a normal 26-year-olds. I don't want a security guard, a driver and makes me an easier target fot the paparazzi. You just have to live your life, through. I'm in my twenties, it's my time for having fun andi don't think there's anything wrong with that. Everyone I've worked with seems to think i'm alright, which is all i can hope for."

Sienna's next film, The Edge Of Love with Keira Knightley, is out later this year.
