David Bowie

I'd love to have him in one of my shows

British theatre mogul Sir Trevor Nunn has spent nearly 30 years trying to sign David Bowie for a stint in a West End show and still hasn't given up his dream of securing the reclusive rock star.

Nunn, famed for his West End and Broadway productions of Les Miserables, Starlight Express and Cats, admits his pursuit of Bowie began in the 1980s when he attempted to sign the singer for a Royal Shakespeare Company production of Peter Pan.

The Ziggy Stardust hitmaker was too busy to take the job, but Nunn hasn't given up his dream of working with the star.

He tells Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper, "I'd love to have him in one of my shows. I'd love that. I really hope it might happen...

"It was 1984, when I was putting on a production of Peter Pan. I so wanted Bowie to play the part. He couldn't do it because he was so busy, but the show went on and I kept on asking him. (Actor) Mark Rylance went on to play the part at some stage".
