Dreaming about a gate is representative of the thresholds in your life.

Perhaps you are crossing over from one point in your life to another- you are entering a new phase of something.

It’s possible you are reaching a certain age that means you are about to embark on another level of maturity. You may see a gate in your dream if you are about to enter adolescence, parenthood or death for instance. It’s essentially about going into something different and unfamiliar.

More negatively, a gate could reflect feelings of needing permission from someone to do something or move on.

An open or swinging gate is symbolic of new opportunities and possibilities- is it time you walked through and took advantage of them?

A closed gate could indicate that you will have some obstacles along the way – ones you must confront before you can move to the next step.

If you were having trouble opening the gate- it’s possible the hard work and effort you are putting in just isn’t enough to move forward. Is there any more you can do? You may have feelings of not being good enough as a result- that you aren’t qualified or have permission to move on until you do something more.

On the other hand, you may not be ready to move on and the dream is acting as a reminder that you will be- just not now.

If you were climbing to reach the top of the gate, perhaps you are trying to gain the upper hand in a situation in your waking hours. You have a desire to know what is ahead of you before you commit to anything.

If you climbed over the gate easily, then you may be looking for short cuts in life. The same action could also be highlighting your impatience in life- do you need to slow down and stop rushing things?
