Books can also be symbolic of knowledge, intelligence, wisdom and information. Perhaps you have learned a new skill lately or someone has come to you because you specialise in a certain thing and can pass on what you know. Or it could be that you crave more knowledge and feel the need to learn something new or more.

If the book was open, it can mean that you pick up new things relatively easily.

Think back to what type of book it was- it could be your subconscious pushing you towards something that deep down you really want to pursue- this could be writing a book, editing other people's work or illustrating someone else's writing for instance.

Another interpretation is that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover- perhaps you have judged someone too quickly and you need to give them a second chance.

Another thought process is that a book represents firm attitudes of those around you and you want to look beyond this rigidity.

You might be feeling more sensitive about something or someone right now and the slightest reference or mention is distracting you. Why are you so reactive to this person or thing? Is it something that can be addressed? Or perhaps all you need is time to heal and to come to terms with the situation...
