If you were carrying a lantern in your dream, and it was guiding your way, perhaps you are grateful for some direction in your life at present.

You can see the path you are supposed to take because all other options aren't available to you.

You feel that you have the necessary equipment or mindset to get through a difficult situation.

What initially scared you, has turned out to be ok in the end.

On the other hand if the lantern was failing, you may be worried that you are unprepared to tackle an issue in your life right now.

Consider what you would do if this lifeline were no longer there. Think about your other options and be as prepared as you can. You may not need to lean on any of these alternatives but it’s always important to be equipt for any eventuality.

To see a great many lanterns, might represent a celebration of some kind. Perhaps you yearn to mark some special occasion, but for whatever reason you can’t. The dream might be telling you to be patient and to wait until such times when you can celebrate in the manner in which you want to.

Alternatively, maybe you don’t need to make a huge fuss over this accomplishment- sometimes keeping it simple and having only a handful of people present can be just as memorable and meaningful. This is especially true, if you felt overwhelmed by the sheer amount of lanterns in the dream.

To hold a lantern in complete darkness implies that there is some positivity in the midst of a wave of negativity and to seek it out to give you some solace. This will be the thing that gets you through an otherwise unbearable time so look for the light in the dark and you will find peace again.

If someone else held the lantern in your dream and this person was guiding you to safety, perhaps they are looking out for you in your waking life. They may be trying to show you the right path. While their intentions might be good, it may not be the most appropriate journey for you.

Consider if they are steering you in the wrong direction. Or if not, are you relying too heavily on them to show you the way? It might be time to carry a lantern of your own or take the burden from them.

Finally consider the shape and colour of the lantern for additional meaning. Did it look like an animal, a flower or was it more traditional? If you can remember the dream in such detail, this may have some significance to you.

If you have been thinking of having children, changing careers, moving house, starting or ending a relationship or telling someone something important- any of these might trigger your unconscious to prompt you to do something about it. More specifically, if the alarm clock did not work or was delayed in your dream- it shows you are respectful of other people's time and do not hurry them if they are not ready to move on. Consider who was in the dream with you for additional meaning. Perhaps a friend or family member is going through something big and you have been their closest support- you have let them take it at their own pace and have been patient with their progress.
