If you live in the city or are surrounded by a lots of people all the time in a house share or a large family- perhaps what you need more than anything is to get back to nature.

Even if you can’t go to the country, seek out the closest thing you have in your local area.

A wooded area, park, river, lake, stream or field- whatever is in easy reach, make a conscious effort to pay it a visit.

A lot of research has been done on the positive effects of nature on mood- so the dream might be telling you to use the free and natural sources available to you to help lift you up if you have been suffering lately.

Perhaps a rural area is symbolic of somewhere you would like to live.

Do you live in an urban area at present and your intent is to move to the country? The dream could be telling you to keep going and not to give up on your goal.

It may seem like it’s far from reality right now but if you keep this in the forefront of your mind, it will help you to reach your destination. Don’t give up hope even if you are in the midst of a temporary setback.

Another interpretation of a rural area is the links it might have to your past. Perhaps you grew up in such surroundings or holidayed in them often.

If so, you may just need a break. If you haven’t given yourself some time off, you may need to schedule some in if you feel overwhelmed or overworked.

Perhaps the dream wants you to revisit something from your past to aid you in your present or your future.

Consider what and who was with you in the dream for additional meaning.

A rural area could represent simplicity. Perhaps you are over complicating things in your life right now and need to strip it all back, remove the complexities and stick with the basics.

Sometimes less is more and the dream might help you to realise that this isn’t just a saying, it’s the truth.
