Alec Baldwin's Daughter Embarrassed By Tape Controversy.... The daughter at the centre of Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin's nasty custody battle is desperate for the family fight to end, according to her uncle.Ireland Baldwin, 11, hit the headlines last week (ends20Apr07) when an angry recorded telephone message left for her by her father was leaked to the media. The actor called his daughter a "rude, thoughtless little pig" when she chose to ignore a court-ordered weekly phone chat with the Departed star.A week after the tape hit internet sites and news shows in America, Baldwin's actor brother William claims his niece has been "embarrassed" by the drama, and wishes it was all over. The Backdraft star says, "I know that she wishes this would end."But the younger Baldwin insists Ireland has no ill feelings towards her dad, despite the controversy and the names he called her.He adds, "I know that she has a great relationship with her dad. I know that she loves her dad very much."Meanwhile in other news Alec Baldwin's brother William has angrily defended the shamed star, asking all those criticising the actor for attacking his daughter in a leaked answer machine message to understand the problems of being a distant dad.

The older Baldwin has been attacked by family groups after calling his 11-year-old daughter Ireland a "rude, thoughtless little pig" during a recorded telephone rage.

The tape of the rant found its way into the hands of Tmz.com editors, who broadcast it over the internet.

But brother William fears critics are weighing in too heavily on a guy who is simply struggling with child custody issues.

He tells US news show Extra, "Imagine you have been going through this custody battle for seven years. This is my brother's only child and you have this court ordered phone call.

"It consistently becomes a pattern for four, five, six days (that he could not get his daughter on the phone)... I'm sure this feeds into the insecurities that my brother has that his ex-wife (Kim Basinger) is trying to poison the well."

Backdraft star William, who is a father of three, insists his big brother is not the monster he's being portrayed as in the media; he's actually a great dad.

He adds, "When I've seen my brother with Ireland, he's done nothing but foster and promote a happy, loving relationship, not only between him and his daughter, but between his daughter and Kim... My brother is a wonderful guy and a wonderful father."
