N Dubz

N Dubz

I think N Dubz are fast becoming a guilty pleasure of mine… I don’t know whether it’s because of the daft hat Dappy insists on plonking on his head or the Na Na Naiiiii catchphrase they warble out whenever they are given the chance, but I do quite like them.

This new single ‘Say It’s Over’ is another, well N Dubs sounding track, to be honest, it’s not something I’d download right now and stick on my iPod, but I reckon it’ll be a grower, and I’ll soon be rapping along to the radio like I’m Slim Shady or something.

Their new video is, well, a bit weird… the first time Tulisa sings, she sounds like a man, and then the second time we see her, she’s got enough eye make up on to provide her own solar energy, but then again, they must have seen how successful Lady GaGa is with her wackyness, so wanted to nick a bit of the magic dust.

The whole video is just a bit chav-meets-record label, with outfits you’d expect to see on an episode of shameless and posh cares with people in Addidas bottoms sprawled across the bonnet… but I think that will go down really well with N Dubz’s younger, white tracksuit / leggings and t-shirt wearing fans. I just think it’s not me, you know?

The storyline behind the song is pretty spot on though - singing about the way in which we find someone else, but never have the bottle to end your current relationship and take the plunge with the new one - so well done N Dubz, you’ve spoken about something very current… maybe your next track could be about the General Election? Sorry, is that pushing it a bit?
