Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith are the first artists confirmed to play the BRIT Awards next year.

The annual ceremony will take place on February 25th 2015 at London's O2 Arena.

The 'Shake It Off' hitmaker is no stranger to the BRIT Awards stage, after performing her hit track 'I Knew You Were Trouble' at the 2013 ceremony.

In 2012, Ed Sheeran took to the stage to perform his hit, 'Lego House', whilst Sam Smith will make his performance debut after winning last year's BRITs Critics' Choice award.

Fans will be happy with the announcement after Ed Sheeran topped a poll of the dream performers for the 2015 ceremony.

With 21 per cent of the vote, the 'Thinking Out Loud' hitmaker was favourite, whilst in second place and coming slightly behind with 20 per cent was David Bowie, who won the Male Solo Artist prize last year but didn't show up to accept his award.

Fans were also keen to see Fleetwood Mac and Paloma Faith hit the stage - both of whom have never performed at the award show before.

Katy Perry was also recommended by fans after her brilliant performance of 'Dark Horse' at last year's ceremony.

Further names will be announced in the coming weeks.
