The market for headphones is huge. As such, it's hard to find the perfect set to cater for your needs. Last month (September 25th, 2019), adidas and Zound Industries launched two separate headphones - a pair of in-ear and a pair of on-ear - that aimed to combine style, comfort and above all quality, to provide consumers, and specifically athletes, with the ultimate audio experience.

We got the opportunity to check out the RPT-01 wireless over-ear headphones, which adidas say are "engineered to meet the demands of any training routine head-on." So, what did we think when we put the set to the ultimate test? Read on to find out...

I've been given the opportunity to trial a number of different headphones in the past, and always point out immediately whether or not they're comfortable on my bowling ball-sized dome. With varying results throughout the years, I can honestly say hand on heart, that these over-ear headphones are amongst the comfiest I've ever had the pleasure of trying out. They look great, and feel better, remaining in-place even when taking part in a workout.

The knitted ear cushions are easy to remove and washable, with a sweatproof design to allow you the best audio experience possible whilst crushing that HIIT session, or even when commuting to the daily grind. Because while these headphones may initially be designed to be used during sport, they're also perfect for your everyday activities, such as sitting at your desk and jamming to Lady Gaga (everybody loves a bit of Gaga, right?).

When it comes to the sound, the headphones are at the top of the game. They do well to cancel out any background noise, with volume quickly adjusted using the easy interaction control knob. On-ear headphones have in the past ran the risk of sounding tinny, or too heavy with bass, but that's not a problem here.

The other button is programmed using the adidas headphones app, and can be used in a number of ways. If you connect your Spotify account to the app, for example, you can set functions to the action button, such as playing a certain artist, or album.

It's an incredible feature, and one that should be applauded. One of the most annoying things about wireless headphones and listening to music whilst on the move, is having to get out your phone every time you want to listen to a particular musician or track. Now, you can pre-program the action button to bypass all of that.

They're not the cheapest headphones on the market, but you get what you pay for in this industry. There are plenty of other options out there for similar prices that cannot live up to the quality given by the RPT-01.
