Ben Fogle has written off the hopes of his best pal James Cracknell in this year's Strictly Come Dancing, after predicting he will struggle to make his mark on the BBC as he has 'two left feet'.

Speaking to Female First at the Southampton Boat Show, TV presenter Fogle was dismissive of Cracknell's attempt to make the grade as a ballroom dancer alongside partner Luba Mushtuk.

"He's got two left feet, like me, so I don't hold much hope," began Ben with a smile, who went on to confirm he hopes to take his place in the BBC studio audience if Cracknell stays in the competition for long enough.

"I hope to get along to one of the shows," continued Fogle. "I'm away for the next two weeks, but if he can hang on in there then I'll be there waving the flag!"

Fogle insists he would never consider putting himself under the Strictly Come Dancing spotlight and when asked who would win a battle of the dance-offs if he took to the floor with Cracknell, he gave a swift answer: "We'd both lose!"

Cracknell has admitted that he is not a dance floor natural and admitted he may be guilty of unveiling his 'Dad dancing' to the BBC talent show judges, despite putting in exhaustive training.

"The biggest challenge for me is allowing myself to look stupid and fail, letting myself off the leash," Olympic gold medal rower Cracknell said.

"In my dreams I hear, 'elbows, shoulders, rhythm' and I'm like, 'we've done 10 hours practice already', but I'm enjoying it.

"Having spent so many years mucking around in a rowing boat with big men in tight lycra, it's time I learned a new skill. I need to apologise to my kids in advance for the embarrassment."

Fogle spoke to Female First while attending the Southampton Boat Show, where he was allowed to take his beloved dog Storm onto the boats on display at the south coast show after dogs were allowed onto the boats for the first time this year.

"Being out on the water with Storm and seeing the variety of different boats available at the show," added Fogle. "I have been to the show a few times before and it's great to see some of the launches this year and the variety of boats and to get out on the water.

"I think a lot of people enjoy sailing or boating enjoy doing so with their dogs. I think it's a welcome addition to the show that we can take our favourite pets this year."
