95% of British people believe they could live healthier lives.

Not all exercise requires going to the gym

Not all exercise requires going to the gym

Despite this, it turns out that we still find excuses to get out of exercising regularly, a study has revealed.

According to the results found by fitness company Freeletics, feeling fatigue is the most common reason why people skip the gym.

Other reasons why people don’t feel motivated to exercise include bad weather, feeling unwell and it being too expensive.

Some other (and rather far-fetched) excuses included:

“The water I use to wash could be used better for the environment”, and “my car might run out of petrol on the way (to the gym)”.

Either these people are extremely environmentally conscious, or they just really don’t want to go to the gym.

Daniel Sobhani, CEO of Freeletics, said: “It’s extremely worrying that the majority of the nation are not living the healthiest lives they could be. Our study revealed a myriad of common barriers that get in the way of people being healthier and more active, and the fact that a shocking 88% feel powerless to change their lifestyle is something we want to change.”

“With our new campaign, we want to highlight the common barriers to exercise and show people they don’t have to be barriers at all. We aim to encourage the public to free themselves from exercise excuses and dare to better their lifestyle.”

40% of people surveyed also added that their day job acts as a barrier to them getting fit. However, celebrities such as Khloe Kardashian says she gets workouts into her busy schedule by using fitness apps, like the Freeletics one.

Fitness apps also abolish the excuse of expense and low motivation to get to the gym. Finding ways to exercise at home is a great way to start leading a healthier lifestyle.
