We all love finding a good bargain and this Black Friday is no different as Brits are looking to spend an average of £158 each over the next few days, with one in three already eyeing up a bargain they’ve been waiting for. The study of 2,000 adults by hotukdeals, the UK’s biggest deal-sharing community found that shoppers are getting ready to spend a whopping £8bn over Black Friday.

The research found that two thirds of Brits will be searching for Black Friday offers today, with one in three holding out until the sale to buy coveted items with the most popular areas including electronics, new home appliances and Christmas gifts.

It’s no surprise with the cold weather keeping people bundled up indoors, that 85% said they will be looking for top deals online instead of hitting the high street and just 10% of Brits said they won’t be looking for deals or discounts as Black Friday fever fails to slow down in the UK.

A third of shoppers have regretted missing out on Black Friday discounts before with the most popular categories for Brits in 2019 including:

  • Electronics (47%)
  • Fashion (31%)
  • Toys (24%)
  • Gaming (23%)
  • Home & Garden (23%)

However, when asked if they believe that Black Friday deals are as good as they seemed, eight out of ten said that some look better than they actually are, while a quarter (25%) admitted to buying an item they didn't need.

Dan Plant, Head of Content and Community at hotukdeals, commented: “Black Friday can be a tricky time to navigate with thousands of deals and discounts from hundreds of retailers. Shoppers can use hotukdeals to tap into the tips and expert advice from our nearly 2 million strong community to help make the smartest purchasing decisions - whether that is buying or NOT buying - and find the products they love without falling into any Black Friday shopping traps.”

According to the What’s Hot page from hotukdeals, nearly 1,000 deals have been added in the last 24 hours with retailers Argos, Amazon and Tesco coming out on top for hot deals.
