The UK’s top 10 Christmas films for 2018 have been revealed, along with the latest information on how we watch our favourite movies.

Traditionally, we would got to the supermarket to buy our favourite movie on DVD. But now it seems, Brits prefer to stream their movies online.
Almost three quarters of us shun DVDs in favour for streaming sites, and Netflix originals disrupt Christmas traditions - overtaking classics as Brits’ favourite Christmas movies. The same research has revealed that on average, we watch six Christmas movies over the festive period.
That’s an incredible 73% of people watching Christmas movies who’ve said they’ll be getting their festive fix from streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu.
It was also found that people traditionally watch the first Christmas movie of the year whilst they’re putting up their tree, as that marks the beginning of the festive season.
But what films are we watching? The top 10 films to watch at Christmas, according to this year’s survery by LaptopsDirect.co.uk are:

- Miracle on 34th Street
- The Christmas Chronicles
- The Snowman
- Home Alone
- White Christmas
- The Grinch
- Love Actually
Mark Kelly, marketing manager at LaptopsDirect.co.uk, said: “Given the popularity of streaming services, it’s unsurprising that many people will be opting to watch their Christmas films via these service providers, rather than more tradtional methods, however I was surprised that the survey found this would be almost three quarters of Brits in 2018. The advantages of streaming sites are very clear, with the variety of choice and the convenience being a huge bonus over traditional methods.
“Given these findings, it’s clear that Brits are still very much in love with the Christmas movie, just that they’re adapting their viewing method in line with the times, though I was incredibly surprised to see a couple of Netflix Originals knocking some Christmas Classics off the top spots this year.”
