It has been revealed that the popular game - which is available on PC as well as smartphone and tablet devices - was the popular search term this year, beating the likes of 'The Last of Us: Part 2', 'FIFA 21' and 'Fall Guys'.

And whilst 'Among Us' received lower searches than the likes of 'Fortnite' or PS5, which was released recently, the popular Imposter game found itself at the top of the list of new trends when it came to games in the last 12 months.

A spokesperson for Google explained: "Top trending queries are the searches that had a high spike in traffic over a sustained period in 2020 as compared to 2019, showing us what was popular in 2020."

And whilst 'Among Us' took home the top spot, 'FIFA 21' came in second place, following by the likes of 'Fall Guys', 'Assassin's Creed Valhalla', 'Club Penguin' and 'Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War' making the top 10.

'Among Us' describes itself as a 4-10 player game where an Imposter must kill all the other crewmates to win.

They shared: "Play with 4-10 player online or via local WiFi as you attempt to prepare your spaceship for departure, but beware as one or more random players among the Crew are Impostors bent on killing everyone!"
