Bringing together both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, we're presented with 'The Handsome Collection', two games for any huge fan of the franchise who is looking to get an improved and mostly smooth experience from the first person shooter.

Instantly noticeable is the art style used - it's unique in that I have never before seen a shooter like it. I've played a few Telltale Games 'episodes' in my time, and it reminded me of their style - I later discovered that Borderlands actually in fact is now also involved with Telltale in their own episodic series. Makes sense!

Claptrap - a machine who aids you throughout your journey and does its best to ensure you come out of the other end alive - provides what Destiny failed to do with their Peter Dinklage voiced companion the Guardian, through masterful humour and the ability to get you giggling despite being surrounded by a bunch of Bullymongs or Varkids.

The upgrade brings with it the inclusion of 4-player splitscreen co-operative mode, with both games previously only ever supporting two players on a single screen. However, despite this being a hugely exciting move for those who want to rally around their consoles and get involved with close friends, framerate issues crop up on Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. They're a little off-putting, but not to the effect that you'll throw your controller away in disgust. You and your friends can still have a lot of fun here.

Now here comes the bombshell - I had never played Borderlands up until this review offered itself up to me. I'd heard so much about the game but unfortunately had never had the chance to get to grips with it. Now? I'm hooked, and forever growing more in awe of my psychotic little character, running through the glorious landscapes and battling off enemies 20 at a time.

Those who have played before however now have the ability to carry their characters into the next-gen consoles, with it taking just a couple of minutes for your full roster to be available in The Handsome Collection. You will however need to have stuck with the console you played the game on previously - Xbox 360 does not go through to PS4, and PS3 does not go through to Xbox One.

With so much to offer, all DLCs instantly available without needing to purchase add-ons and a great storyline told flawlessly, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is one that's going to stay with me for a long, long time.

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is available on Xbox One and PS4 now.
