The organisers of the event - a gaming festival held in Seattle - are hoping the game director will drop some "secrets" about the hotly-anticipated title when he is the first keynote speaker at the event on September 1.

A statement on the PAX website said: "The whole thing is going to kick off with our Storytime Session featuring Bungie's own Luke Smith!

"He's going to talk about his path coming up through the gaming industry and hopefully be able to drop some sweet Destiny 2 secrets in there as well."

Luke worked as a designer on 'Destiny' and 'Halo: Reach' after starting off his career as a games journalist.

'Destiny 2' fans will no doubt be keeping an eagle eye on his speech as it will come just five days before the game launches in full on September 6 for consoles.

Luke recently voiced his support for the title's "carry culture" - the idea of high skilled players helping those at a lower level get through a mission - because it will bring the players closer together.

He said: "It leads to a community of folks who are, in many ways, helpful. You're creating alliances and allies, even if it's just for a night."

Designer Rob Engeln recently said: "'Destiny' could be a game where some of these really high-skilled players can take other people who aren't necessarily up to the challenge on their own along, bring them through it, and give them a really cool reward that's also a memory.

"That's something that's really valuable to us, and when we were talking about what do we want the ritual game in 'Destiny 2' to look like, preserving that carry culture was one of the things that [game director] Luke [Smith] told me mattered most to him."
