Call of Duty: Black Ops III Descent is the third DLC pack for the best-selling console video game on next-gen platforms, Call of Duty: Black Ops III.

Arriving first to PlayStation 4 on July 12, other next-gen platforms will follow at a later date with the Activision Publishing, Inc. addition.

Included once more are four new unique multiplayer maps, along with an all-new Zombies experience continuing the Origins storyline in an alternate U.S.S.R. universe.

Studio Head at Treyarch, Mark Lamia comments: "One of the things I love most about Treyarch is that team just keeps going for it.

"Descent doesn't take its foot off the gas, serving up a flat-out scorching Zombies experience, as well as multiplayer map designs and gameplay opportunities that we think our fans are going to love."

The four new multiplayer maps included in the game will take players across the globe to different settings including a giant robot combat arena, a cryogenic prison, a Viking village frozen in time and a modern day reconstruction of an ancient Roman villa.

  • Empire: Treyarch brings its Black Ops III movement system to Call of Duty: Black Ops II fan favourite map Raid. The classic has been reimagined here as an authentic Roman villa, "recreated by a modern-day eccentric billionaire", where a classic map mixes it up with new gameplay mechanics.
  • Cryogen: Located in the Dead Sea far off the coast, this is an isolated compound holding some of the world's most infamous and dangerous criminals in frozen isolation. Sentry towers keep watch over the small map as players will be funneled around the prison's cryogenic tubes. Wall running attacks are going to be big in this one.
  • Berserk: The entrance here is guarded by ancient sentinels at a lost civilisation forgotten by the world and frozen in time. Blizzards will batter players in the Viking village, whilst a centre bridge can be controlled all while navigating through wooden buildings, rock outcroppings and tight chokepoints.
  • Rumble: Go into the future and battle against huge mechanical warriors in a stadium where robots go head-to-head for the crowd's enjoyment. High speed combat will be forced into the central arena, with players forced to battle through fallen mechs and pyrotechnics.

Nikolai's motherland is also to be explored as players enjoy another Zombies experience, this time in the 1940s Soviet Union.

Facing off against mechanised zombie infantry and dodging aerial dragon assaults, players are inserting right into the centre of a raging battle within the remnants of Stalingrad.

Filled with new enemies, gameplay mechanics not yet used and an epic set of new Zombie annihilating weapons, Gorod Krovi promises an experience like no other.

NOTE: Descent DLC will not be available on PS3 or Xbox 360, in line with all Season Pass content being unavailable on those two same consoles.
