Gamers will be given a specific budget to spend on scouting, and data analysts will take on a "much greater role" in the forthcoming title, including providing player highlight packages for managers to make a better judgement on whether they want to sign someone or not.

Speaking on Football Manager's FMTV YouTube channel, presenter Joe Tomlinson said: "Football Manager 2018's scouting system has been overhauled to make it the most authentic in the series' history.

"Scouting now has its own budget which can be adjusted within the scouting centre.

"Data analysts were introduced to the series last year and will take on a much greater role in 'Football Manager 2018'.

"For starters, you can ask your analyst to give you reports on specific players which gives you an easy look at their stats for the season."

To help managers decide whether a scout's verdict should be trusted there is a score out of 100 to give a "more accurate assessment of the scout's verdict of a player than the star system".

Some free agents may even recommend themselves to a manager if they think a club is a particularly good fit for them.

What's more, the sports science section has been overhauled to give managers more detailed analysis of fitness data about their squad.

Joe added: "Make sure you regularly visit the Medical Centre tab, make use of the information and advice contained within it as well as the feedback from your sports science team."

'Football Manager 2018' is to be released on November 10, 2018.
