Playground Games, the team behind the series of popular racing games, are said to be making a departure from their high speed driving titles in the hopes of finding success in a second genre, this time trying their hand at an action adventure game.

The studio has not announced what the game is about or what it will be called, but they have expanded to a second studio in order to pursue their vision.

In the second studio, Playground Games have hired some veterans of the development world, including people who worked on acclaimed games such as 'Grand Theft Auto V' and 'Metal Gear Solid V'.

Amongst the new arrivals to the Playground team is Sean Eyestone, who was the senior producer on 'Star Wars Battlefront II', and worked for Kojima Productions for 10 years, lending a hand to games such as 'Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes' and 'The Phantom Pain'.

Despite making the decision to create a second studio to develop new IP, Playground Games are still dedicated to the 'Forza' brand, and are expected to put out their fourth 'Forza Horizon' game next year, though nothing has yet been announced.

'Forza Horizon 3' was released in 2016, and earlier this year added an exclusive Hot Wheels DLC, inspired by the popular brand of toy cars first made in 1968.

The new expansion featured both tracks and cars taken from the toy manufacturers, with tracks boasting the iconic orange colouring and dangerous loops and corkscrews for which the brand is known for.
