Gun Media, which raised funds for the upcoming video game via a Kickstarter campaign, is planning to make the violent video game available this month but those eager to get their hands on it as soon as possible can pre-order via a link on f13game.com.

While a release date has not yet been confirmed, the website states that it is due in October.

'Friday the 13th: The Game' easily reached its target of $823,704, beating the $700,000 it had initially hoped for after Gun Media previously released prototype footage of the game, in which gamers can play as villain Jason Voorhees, and explained it was still in the developmental stage.

They said at the time: "This is a rare glimpse into a game development prototype build that we're using to test and prove out gameplay design concept.

"All of the assets, character models, animations, etc ... are temporary assets, put in place so we can test in a reasonable context. The art, sound effects, music and gameplay are not final by any means. (sic)"

And 'Friday the 13th' franchise creator Sean Cunningham has promised plenty of blood and gore.

He said: "We're not interested in compromising what made the film franchise so popular. We're interested in building precisely what we, as fans, want. The ultimate 'Friday the 13th' experience. Blood, guts, gore, brutal kills, and more."
