A post on the official Pocket Monster website has confirmed that developers are busily working on a Halloween-themed update, but the gaming firm has, so far, remained tight-lipped about what the update will entail.

In a teasing statement, The Pokemon Company said: "The Halloween season is a special time in 'Pokémon GO'.

"Plenty of good stuff is coming to the game later this October, and we can't wait to get out and about to see what sort of excitement we can scare up while catching new Pokemon to fill out our Pokedex.

"Stay tuned for more details about Pokemon Go's Halloween event coming soon."

Last week, meanwhile, 'Pokemon GO' players started to experience trouble connecting to the Niantic app.

The hugely popular game suffered major server problems, which left some players unable to connect to the 'Pokemon GO' app - but Niantic subsequently posted a tweet which revealed that the issues had been fixed.

Writing on the micro-blogging website, the technology firm explained: "The issues preventing Trainers from signing into Pokémon GO have been resolved.

"Thank you for your patience, Trainers! (sic)"
