A new story trailer showcasing some of what we should expect from Horizon Zero Dawn sequel Horizon Forbidden West has been released this week, allowing players a glimpse at the next chapter in Aloy’s story.

On yet another epic quest, Aloy will be joined by both fresh and familiar faces, as she goes up against a storm of new threats and machines more deadly than ever she has come across before.

With a world-ending blight threatening not only those she loves and her community, she must go up against the natural perils of the land, as well as a rebel leader called Regalla and her army of followers, as well as the charming yet tricky Sylens and his machinations.

That latter relationship is one that started back as Horizon Zero Dawn lurched towards its dramatic conclusion, and whilst the two characters don’t necessarily want to admit it, they made need one another if they’re to prove successful in their respective journeys.

An incredible and talented cast comes together, with Ashly Burch returning to the lead role of Aloy, alongside Lance Reddick as Sylens, John MacMillan as Varl and John Hopkins as Erend.

Two of the new characters meanwhile, Tenakth warrior Kotallo and the secretive Tilda, will be played by Noshir Dalal and Carrie-Anne Moss respectively.

The original Horizon Zero Dawn was released back in 2017, introducing players to a hunter called Aloy who would venture through a post-apocalyptic land ruled by dangerous, robotic creatures.

Critically-acclaimed and picking up countless awards, gamers enjoyed stepping into the shoes of Aloy and exploring an unrecognisable United States, whilst searching for answers relating to her mysterious past.

Before the credits rolled however, it became clear that this wasn’t the end of her time as a leading PlayStation protagonist, but simply the beginning.
