The company recently made headlines with the $7.5 billion acquisition of ZeniMax - the parent company of the likes of Bethesda, iD Software, Arkane Studios and Tango Gameworks - but CEO Satya Nadella has confirmed the gaming giant isn't done there.

Speaking to CNET, Nadella said: "We'll always look for places where there is that commonality of purpose, mission, and culture.

"We will always look to grow inorganically where it makes sense."

Meanwhile, Xbox boss Phil Spencer explained the decision behind the ZeniMax deal, and he insisted the focus is on securing more content to bring more success to Microsoft's gaming division.

He added: "Content is just the incredible ingredient to our platform that we continue to invest in. This doubles the size of our creative organisation.

The move now means the Xbox family of franchises includes everything from 'The Elder Scrolls', 'Fallout' and 'Prey to 'Doom', 'Dishonored' and 'Starfield'.

In a statement, Spencer said: "As one of the largest, most critically acclaimed, privately held game developers and publishers in the world, Bethesda is an incredibly talented group of 2300 people worldwide who make up some of the most accomplished creative studios in our industry across Bethesda Softworks, Bethesda Game Studios, id Software, ZeniMax Online Studios, Arkane, MachineGames, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog, and Roundhouse Studios.

"These are the teams responsible for franchises like The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Wolfenstein, Doom, Dishonored, Prey, Quake, Starfield and many more."
