Minecraft is today (May 9) celebrating four years since it made its debut on Xbox consoles, with the game allowing players for the next week to download the 4th Birthday Skin Pack for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition and Minecraft: Xbox One Edition completely free.

Additionally, those who have in the past missed out on the previously released Birthday Skin Packs are able to catch up and download the three packs for free. Check out pictures from Mojang's own celebrations in the gallery below.

It was also revealed by Mojang today that a brand new free Mario Mash Up pack is on its way to the Wii U Edition of the game, with a Mario-themed world, 16 original tunes from Mario 64, a specific Mario-themed texture pack and a heap of new skins (over 40) included.

Existing owners of Minecraft: Wii U Edition will be getting the pack on May 17 as part of an update, and it will also come with the retail version of the game, due to appear in stores from June 17.
